We’re hugely excited to announce that the annual McGettigan’s Comedyfest is back for another year! Comedyfest has been a benchmark in the Dubai calendar every January for the past 5 years and 2016 will be no exception.
This year’s Comedyfest line-up is stronger than ever with favourites such as Eric Lalor from RTE’s Fair City TV show, Karl Spain, and Après Match star Barry Murphy. This year, we’re also excited to welcome the immensely popular comedy three-piece Foil, Arms & Hog to the shows! For those who haven’t heard of them: Sean Finegan (Foil), Conor McKenna (Arms), and Sean Flanagan (Hog) form Irish sketch group Foil, Arms & Hog. They met each other at university and since their formation have been touring and doing live shows in Ireland, the UK, the US, and Australia. Over the last eight years and they’ve received critical acclaim and we can’t wait to see them perform live on stage in The Baggot, McGettigan’s JLT.
The festival takes place on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th January 2016 at McGettigan’s JLT at the Bonnington. The laughs kick off at 9 p.m., but door open at 7 p.m. already.

McGettigan’s DWTC is proud to announce a new edition to the weekly line up – Live and Laughing comedy night every Tuesday from 7.30pm. The first night kicks off on Tuesday 27th October – everyone needs a good laugh, especially on hump day!
We welcome Canadian MC and comedian Dave Marosi who’ll be hosting the evening. Dave has taken UAE comedy scene by storm with his brand of sharp observational humour which has gained him fans of all nationalities. The annual McGettigan’s Comedyfest is back for its 5th year running at McGettigan’s in Dubai’s JLT neighbourhood!
As always, it features a heavyweight lineup of some of Ireland’s best-loved comedians. The 2015 lineup includes headline act Barry Murphy from Irish television feature “Après Match” alongside Karl Spain, Eric Lalor, Gearoid Farrelly, and Colum McDonnell.
This year the Comedyfest will be held in an all-new room at McGettigan’s JLT. It will be the very first event held in this new venue. The new room is an extension to the famous Irish bar and has been styled to house the best live music concerts, comedy shows and sporting occasions.
“We have a serious demand for events and concerts in JLT, so we have designed a purpose-built venue at the pub to house these shows. The new room at JLT is an exciting new addition to the venue and we are extremely excited to show it off”, said McGettigan’s CEO, Dennis McGettigan.
The McGettigan’s Comedyfest 2015 takes place on the 8th and 9th January with tickets priced at just AED50 which includes the show and a free drink or BBQ burger.
In keeping with tradition, McGettigan’s has kept the ticket price for the Comedyfest low as an annual “thank you” to everyone for all the support shown to McGettigan’s throughout the previous year. The star of October’s tour is Ian Coppinger, one of Ireland’s busiest comedians, a regular on the world comedy circuit who has played to packed houses at the Edinburgh, Melbourne, Montreal Just For Laughs, Galway, Electric Picnic, Glastonbury, Glasgow, Dublin, Adelaide and Wellington comedy festivals.
. Ian is also one of a handful of acts who has been invited back year after year to perform at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Comedy Festival since 1995 and has performed throughout Europe, the Middle and Far East. A regular on all the major stages in Ireland and the UK Ian has also appeared as a support act for Ardal O Hanlon on his UK tour and Pat Shortt on his Irish tour, including 7 sell out weeks in Dublin’s Vicar Street. Ian has also appeared on The Panel Live tour 2008 and in 2007 had 250,000 copies of his CD distributed in the Irish Press.
A noted improviser Ian is a co-founder of The Dublin Comedy Improv (1992), where he still performs every Monday night in Dublin’s International Bar, which is Ireland’s second longest running comedy club. The Dublin Comedy Improv have recorded two hit radio shows for RTE. Ian is also a regular guest with the world famous Comedy Store Players performing alongside Paul Merton, Richard Vranch, Josie Lawrence and many members of Whose Line Is It Anyway?. Ian has also toured Australia, New Zealand, the Middle and Far East as Whose Line Is It Anyway? with the original British cast members. the only improviser to have been invited to perform at every Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny since 1995 where Ian has improvised alongside some of the great improvisers in the world.
